Painting & decorating services in Somerset
What sets Us apart

A proper finish, not just a coat of paint

Most painting jobs look fine on day one. The difference shows up six months later, in the prep that wasn't done properly, the filler that cracked, the woodwork that was painted over rather than sanded back, the colour that looked right on a screen and wrong on the wall.

The team at Britton's Properties approaches decorating the same way as any other room on a job list. Surfaces are prepared before anything goes on them. Holes are filled, woodwork is keyed, and walls are primed where they need to be. If a room needs a skim before it can be decorated properly, that conversation happens at the start rather than after the first coat goes on and the problems show through.

Painting and decorating is often the final stage of a wider project, an extension that needs finishing, a renovation that needs pulling together, or a room that simply hasn't been touched in years.
Our team coordinates this as part of the whole job, not as something to arrange separately.

What We Do

The complete painting & decorating package

At Britton's Properties, we cover the full scope of interior decorating work, so the room is finished properly rather than handed back with a list of things still to sort.

Painting: Walls & Ceilings

Full interior painting in any finish. Walls and ceilings prepared, primed where needed, and painted to a consistent finish. Colour matching available if you need to work from an existing scheme.

Wallpapering & Feature Walls

Lining paper, patterned wallpaper, and feature walls hung cleanly with properly prepared surfaces underneath. Pattern matching done correctly so nothing looks rushed at the joins.

Woodwork & Joinery Painting

Skirting boards, architraves, window frames, doors, and staircases rubbed back, primed, and painted. The woodwork is usually the part that dates a room most — done properly it makes everything else look sharper.

Plastering & Skim Coat

Where walls aren't in a suitable condition to decorate, the team can skim before painting begins. A smooth surface before any paint goes on is always worth doing rather than papering over the problem.

New Doors & Woodwork Supply

Replacing internal doors, skirting, architrave, or window boards as part of a decoration project. Supplied and fitted before painting so everything goes on in the right order.

Light Fittings & Finishing

Swapping out pendant lights, ceiling roses, wall lights, and switch plates as part of a room refresh. Small changes that make a significant difference to how a newly decorated room feels.

Full Room Makeovers

Where a room needs more than just repainting, new woodwork, updated fittings, replastered walls, and fresh decoration all coordinated as one job rather than arranged separately.

From preperation to handover

Our team provide a fully managed painting and decorating service. From complete prep and strip-back to finishing touches, cleaning and handover.

How It Works

The team's approach to every decorating project

01

Site Visit & Assesment

The team visits, looks at the surfaces properly, and identifies anything that needs addressing before decorating begins. Loose plaster, damaged woodwork, or walls in poor condition are flagged at this stage, not discovered after paint has been applied.

02

Design & Spec

Materials confirmed, colours agreed, full written quote issued. Supply and fit is the default — the team sources and supplies paint, paper, and materials, so you're not making separate trips to the decorating shop.

03

Preperation

Surfaces filled, sanded, keyed, and primed as required. Any plastering completed and dried before decorating begins. This is the stage that determines how the finished job holds up over time.

04

Painting & Decorating

Painting, wallpapering, and woodwork completed in the correct sequence. First coats, drying time, and second coats handled properly rather than rushed. Rooms left clean and tidy at the end of each day.

05

Finishing & Handover

New fittings installed, furniture moved back, and the room checked before handover. Nothing left on a snag list.

Do you do painting and decorating as a standalone service in Somerset?
Yes. Painting and decorating is available as a standalone service across Somerset and Bristol. It doesn't need to be part of a larger project. A single room repaint, a full house redecoration, or a feature wall is all within scope.
Do you supply the paint and materials, or do I need to source them?
The team supplies and fits as standard. Paint brand, finish, and colour are agreed at the quoting stage. If you've already bought paint you want to use, that works too, just let Warren know at the site visit.
Can you paint over wallpaper, or does it need to come off first?
It depends on the condition of the wallpaper and what's underneath. Painting over wallpaper can work in some situations, but it often causes problems later, bubbling, seams showing, or the paper lifting. The honest answer is that it's assessed on site before any recommendation is made.
How long does a room take to paint and decorate?
A straightforward bedroom or living room repaint typically takes one to two days. Rooms with complex prep, wallpapering, or woodwork take longer. Projects involving plastering need drying time before decorating can begin. The team gives a realistic programme at the quote stage.
Do you do plastering as well as painting?
Yes. Where walls or ceilings need a skim coat before they can be decorated, the team handles that as part of the same job. A smooth, properly prepared surface is a non-negotiable step before any paint goes on.
Can you update light fittings and doors as part of a decoration project?
Yes. Updating internal doors, skirting, architrave, light fittings, and switch plates as part of a room refresh is standard. It's considerably easier to do these things while painting rather than after, and the team coordinates the sequence to make sure everything happens in the right order.
